Celeb-Rated: Matthew Leone, Madina Lake Celeb-Rated: Matthew Leone, Madina Lake RSS

By Rick Florino, Editor

Introspective lyrics and huge choruses make Chicago's Madina Lake one of the hottest young heavy rock bands on the scene. Vocalist Matthew Leone gave Citysearch some insight into his favorite haunts at home and on the road.

At Home: Chicago, IL

  1. Mirai Sushi

2020 W Division St, Chicago, IL
"If your dad is coming into the city, or your record label is in town to treat you to dinner, this is the wallet-buster that is worth their every penny. The Kani Nigiri is literally one bite of food and costs $15, and believe it or not, it may be worth it."

  2. Metro

3730 N Clark St, Chicago, IL
"Despite its horribly frat guy-riddled location in Wrigleyville, Metro is the greatest venue in the country to see bands of all sizes, from Flaming Lips to Smashing Pumpkins. After the show, tumble down the stairs to SmartBar, which is dangerously open until 5am."

  3. Chicago Diner

3411 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL
"It's awesome for people watching, and everyone in the joint is bonded by a large appetite and an even larger hangover."

  4. Lincoln Park Zoo

2200 N Cannon Dr, Chicago, IL
"It's right in the middle of a huge park in the city, right on the lake and it's as free as a bird. I'll go there and chill with the penguins for hours."

  5. Oak Street Beach

Oak St at Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL
"In Chicago, people are miserable for about seven months out of the year, but once the weather breaks, everyone and their grandma goes to the beach. It's no Cancun Mexico, but minus the homeless dudes and the smell of garbage, you can trick yourself without too much difficulty."

On the Road

  1. Bossa Nova

7181 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
"Bosa Nova on Sunset is incredible. Every time we play within 50 miles of this place, we make it a point to go dine at this culinary wonder."

  2. Rainbow Bar & Grill

9015 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
"After we stuff our faces at Bosa Nova, we head down Sunset to this infamous Hollywood staple. This place is in a constant state of 80's hair metal heaven. You're guaranteed to see the following people: Ron Jeremy, Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead and B Real of Cypress Hill, on any given night. How is that not awesome?"

  3. The NorVa

    317 Monticello Ave, Norfolk, VA
"This is a venue of unprecedented class and hospitality. The backstage has a hot tub, sauna, fully catered dining room, basketball court, video games and pool table."
